About Scriptli
Scriptli is a Swiss AI transcription service that turns Swiss German audio, in any dialect, into clean Standard German text within minutes. It costs 0.06 CHF per minute, needs no subscription, and you can start without creating an account.
We built Scriptli because transcribing Swiss German was either inaccurate, expensive or complicated.
Scriptli started with a master’s thesis. Nicolas had recorded a set of interviews in Swiss German and needed them transcribed quickly. He tried the tools that were out there and none of them could do it properly. Dialect turned into nonsense and the cleanup took longer than typing the whole thing out by hand.
That was the frustrating part, because the technology clearly existed. Modern AI understands Swiss German remarkably well. Nobody had built a simple, affordable tool around it for people in Switzerland.
Along the way we noticed two more problems:
- It was expensive. Transcription services charged prices that made no sense for a student, a journalist or a small business with a few recordings a month.
- It was complicated. Most platforms wanted a long sign-up, then asked you to learn their own internal tool and then locked you into yet another monthly subscription.
So the two of us, Nicolas and Darjo, built the opposite as a small, independent team from Switzerland. Scriptli handles Swiss German accurately, costs a fraction of what we were used to and works the way it should: open the website, upload your file, get your text. No onboarding, no subscription, no learning curve.
